I cannot explain my personal excitement to see the light at the end of the tunnel. In the last few months we have experienced so many emotions; mostly sadness , fear and anxiety.  We have seen ups and downs; in our work places, among friends and within the family.

But Dubai is a fighter.  Dubai always fights back. And we have.  Dubai will welcome its first tourists shortly. And the path ahead can only be towards a brighter future.

Stranded in Dubai?

These are testing times. Never have we been tested as a community like we are being test today. The Covid-19 situation will bring out the best and the worst from within us. We need to try and be the ones that support our communities. This too shall pass.

One of the most vulnerable among us are the ones who may have entered UAE on a visit visa in the hope of landing a job but could not exit quickly. Lot of the countries have placed all international arrivals on hold and some of the visitors may be stuck here. I really wonder how they will cope in this trying situation?

UAE and Dubai specifically has always risen to the occasion. This pandemic and the resulting situation doesn't spare anyone. Irrespective of nationality or ethnicity.

If you can, reach out to at least one stranded visitor. Reach out and help them in any way your can without putting the general public at risk. This is specifically so as human to human contact is something we need to minimize. Some of the ways we can help is just by sending out messages of comfort. Post messages on social media like Facebook and Twitter and let them know you understand their plight. just knowing that will be comforting by itself.

Help them with communication. They need to communicate with their loved ones regularly. This is  a costly affair. May be you can help them with communication.

Help them find a job. This is the best support you can provide

Some of them may be hard pressed with finances. May be you can sponsor daily meals.

Check out if you can help. Join the Facebook page by clicking here

Mangrove Walk - Abu Dhabi

May be it's just my love for quiet and nature. The time spent at the Mangrove Walk was worth a million.

Located on Jubail island between Yas Island and AD city, this is an absolute must visit site. Spread across the huge area, it has 3 walking paths with the longest being approximately 2 kms. Aside from the nice peace and quiet of the walk, one gets to be one with nature. The walk through the mangroves provides an interesting insight into the complex ecology. Mangroves are a rich habitat for a variety of species including birds, insects, and fish. Information boards placed along the path are an excellent source more information about the flora and fauna that live in the mangroves.

Things to note; visit during the high tide.

Heritage Village - Abu dhabi

The Heritage Village experience is a one of a kind. It takes you into a time capsule as you travel across eras of the past and get  ring side view of the rich history and culture of UAE.

The recreated village provides a peak into the way of life in the country's past eras. While the village has a wide range of exhibits, the most interesting for me was the various demonstrations and workshops by skilled craftsmen. There were Emarati ladies weaving carpets and creating other ornamental works. The wood carving and the sword making workshops were of special interest for me.

The village is an excellent option for a day out with the family. Aside from the display of the rich history and cultural aspects, the kids will be able to see many local animals including a camel, a horse, cows and goats.
