The only Hindu temple in Dubai

I understand that this is the only Hindu temple in UAE? Located in Bur Dubai, the Shiva and Krishna Temple caters to the religious needs of the vast Hindu community in Dubai. While the temple performs marriage ceremonies among the Hindus, interestingly the marriages cannot be registered in the country.

It's strange to see the temple located on the first floor of a building. I found out that this was a pre-condition to having a temple in Dubai i.e the premises should not be located on firm ground. Can anyone confirm this?

HI Steve.. this may not be necessarily true.

Because.. about 12 years ago the temple was located on the ground floor of the same building, having small halls for celebrations and prayer meetings on the first floor. After it was renovated, the temple is now on the first floor and vice versa.

Also, this is the Krishna temple, adjacent to this is another temple that has.. lets say.. a more variety of Hindu Gods and Goddesses accompanying a Gurudwara (temple for Sikhs) in the same building. Besides this one.. there are many more private temples in the city in addition to designated areas where Hindus can hold prayer meetings and other religious ceremonies and rituals.

Thanks Harsha for the additional info.

The story about the temple being above ground appears to be an urban legend? I was told this by an Indian friend of mine. :-)

Everything fine except dress code for ladies. So as a Devotee i am worrying about the dress code.As we knows devotees are not reguler. That means once in a week.
On that day why they cannot avoid expossing dress???
It Seems to be very strange that why temple authority ignore this!!!!
Some time we will not feel that its a temple...
So we will expect a positive movement on this....

Most of Moslem countries allow temples and freedom of religion (except Saudi Arabia). Dubai has Catholic, Protestant & Coptic Churches besides many Hindu temples (there is a new Hindu Temple in Jebel Ali).
